The Kissing Hand Unit & Freebie

The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn is my favorite back to school story for Kindergarten. Chester Raccoon is worried about going to school for the first time. His mom gives him a "kissing hand" so that her love will be with him all day at school. Click below to see my full unit & sampler in my store.

Here's a video of Audrey Penn reading the kissing hand. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

For this weeks TPT Seller Challenge, I decided to finish my science standards that have taken me a year to finish. You see I started them for my classroom and made them as I needed them. They include 19 Science Standards correlated to Journeys Kindergarten Edition.

Each poster includes:

  • Pictures that match the standard
  • I Can statement
  • Full text of standard
  • Journey's Lesson Correlations (if available)

I put them up in my classroom using Shop Ticket Holders. You can buy at Office Depot for $1.99 each.

Dare to Dream

I started out this week scared to dream. This week's TPT Seller Challenge was to blog about our dreams. The thought of a blog was scary. I'm a "techy" & can do many things but a creating a blog was not one of them. As a stubborn DIYer I didn't want to do it if I couldn't do it myself. However the excitement of people starting their own blogs in our Facebook Group inspired me. Google became my best friend & worst enemy as I searched for blogging basics, but I did!

Now on to my dreams:
1. I have always dreamed of being a stay at home mom, the kind that is actively volunteering in her children's school. I'd love to have a flexible schedule to work on TPT from home while still being active in my children's lives.

2. While I love my house now, I'd love to buy a dream house big enough to have a separate room for my husband's toys. You see, I'm married to a big kid. When you come into my house you see a full sized video arcade, a skee ball machine and pinball machine. All of them are in the middle of my living room. My dream house would also have a breath-taking pool.

3. As a Girl Scout community service has always been a part of my life. In college I was the Philantrophy Chair of my sorority, Phi Mu. I'd love to be able to give back to my community & see the impact of my donations.

Makeover Challenge

2 weeks ago I started a TPT Sellers Challenge. Last week was makeover madness week. I learned many new tricks to improve my products. I am working on my store makeover. These Champs Poster are one of the first products I made & one of my best selling products as well.

Click here to see it in my store: Champs Posters.

These Next Generation Science Standards posters with I Can statements are great to post on your board. The pictures serve as a springboard to introduce lessons and a visual reminder for students of what we are learning. They are also available with Journey's Correlations & for 1st grade. Other grade levels are coming soon.
